HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 21

Requesting the Division of Highways to increase the speed limit on all Interstate highways to seventy miles per hour and all state four-lane highways to sixty-five miles per hour.

Whereas,
Federal law now allows states to set their own speed limits on controlled access highways; and
Whereas, Many of the state's controlled access highways go through sparsely populated areas so that higher speed limits would be safe; and
Whereas, Higher speed limits would bring the far-flung reaches of the state closer together; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Department of Highways is hereby requested to increase the speed limit on all interstate highways to seventy miles per hour and all state four-lane highways to sixty-five miles per hour; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of Highways and the Secretary of Transportation.
